Reality Check

When one of my friends has a new baby i usually start with "congratulations" and then ask about the baby and how the family is doing. I tend to ask if they are good eaters and sleepers, if they love being a mom and other such interesting questions. The responses are usually predictable. "I love my baby, everything is good," etc.
I would like to send a reality check to all those people who think that they are the only ones whose child doesn't sleep through the night, isn't a good eater, or any other problem that may arise.
Last night I went to bed with a darling adorable baby girl, whom I love very much. But I would have given ANYTHING to have Jason here to help me with her.
She has been congested that last week or so and the doctor told me it was pretty normal. It may be normal but it is really causing me problems.
She couldn't breathe so she was snorting all night, and she has been swallowing her mucus (i know TMI) and she can't digest it so she throws up. Then she thinks she is STARVING because she just lost her dinner, and wants to nurse. So I nurse her. Then she gets a stomach ache and cries for 10 mins before she throws up again. She finally settles down a little so I put her in her bed with a binki and pray she goes to sleep. She starts to drift off to sleep but then she starts having problems breathing and we are back to the beginning of a very rotten pattern.
That is how my night went.
For the most part Rory is cute and wonderful and absolutely perfect. But she does have her moments and when she does it really throws me off. When I have days like these it's nice to know I'm not the only one whose child does this. So I wrote this on my wall for all the new mothers and mothers to be, so when their child has a completely rotten night, you know...You are not alone!

Very true Amanda. I like to think that my baby is perfect...but we also have those moments. Hope she is feeling better soon and no more stuffy noses.

Amanda, It was so good to talk to you yesterday! I'm sorry to hear you aren't sleeping. No fun! I hope the congestion clears up soon. I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you about not losing weight, I guess my point was that it's normal that you haven't lost it yet and that you aren't the only one. I guess I got lucky with Colton. He was such a good baby and still is.
