Yesterday was supposed to filled with fun and swimming. Dyson even invited his Nana to join us. We were getting ready to go when my mom noticed something on Ridge's shoulder. I looked at it and this is what I saw...
It looks like a bruise but is a huge knot of some kind. It is about as big as a Biggie (shooter) marble. It kind of freaked me out. So I immediately called his doctor and luckily was able to get in that morning. So instead of getting in our swimming suits, we dressed for a busy day of doctor visits.
When we saw the doctor he was a little perplexed. He wasn't quite sure what it was. He checked his organs and lymph nodes to make sure things were looking OK there, and then ordered an ultrasound up at Primary Children's. He told me that he didn't think it was cancer because his spleen and liver weren't enlarged and he wasn't growing any new lymph glands, but he wanted to make sure. Of course after hearing the "C" word I was a little freaked out. But there wasn't much I could do at that point.
They were able to get us into PCMC that afternoon so we took my mom to her doctor's appointment, got some lunch and headed up to the hospital. Luckily we didn't have to wait long and we were in the ultrasound room having a look at the mysterious bump. Ridge did really well. He held really still for them and he didn't cry. The tech that did the ultrasound used all the right words. He told Ridge that he was going to look at his arm with a camera and he was going to put some lotion on his arm too. Ridge was all about the lotion. He gets into my lotion all the time (he puts it in his hair) Anyway, he did really good and I was so proud of him.
After the ultrasound the tech called the doctor in to look at the film. I thought for sure I would either have to wait forever or they would send me home and have the doctor call me later, but I was pleasantly surprised when the doc walked in and looked at it right then.
They said they couldn't see any blood flow to the lump and so it wasn't a tumor or any kind of cancerous mass. WHEW!!! I was so relieved. He then went on to say that Ridge probably had an aneurysm in the muscle sheath, and that blood and joint fluid had probably collected there. It should go away on it's own within a month or so, and if it doesn't then they will drain it.
I felt extremely blessed to have been able to get into see so many doctors on such short notice, and to know that everything is OK. I was worried that it may be a cyst that would need surgery or worse. And with Jas gone I don't know how I would have coped with all of that.

Jason told us about this last night. What a blessing to see the doctors so quickly and not have to worry about it. Give Ridge a hug for us! We miss you!
I'm so glad it isn't something! Brave Ridgedon! Must be nice being able to know there's doctor near by to help!
I am glad everything is ok! Primary Children's is a great hospital. I loved the doctor's who took care of my Caden. That is a miracle they got you in so fast!
Ridge must be the bravest kid ever. I can't believe he was so good through all of that. I am so glad that he is okay!
How scary for you! I'm glad they could work you in right away. It would have been torture to have to sit, wait and wonder. Glad all is well, brave little boy!
I'm glad he's doing all right! Poor kid - swimming should never have to be cancelled.
Wow Amanda! That is scary. I am so glad that everything worked out just right.
Glad to see that all is okay. I think I would have been a little freaked out as well. Hope you had a great 4th of July.
Those kinds of things always scare me. You are good at handling them. I am glad he is ok and that he did such a good job at the doctor's!
