We took Ridge to the dentist again today to have a look at his tooth and find out if we should leave it in and see if it comes down or take it out.
After the Dentist had a look at it and we talked for a bit we decided that the tooth was going to come out. The dentist feared that the thin bone that attaches to the teeth was broken and so the tooth would not come down on it's own and instead of waiting a month and risking infection and damage we decided to go ahead with the extraction. It will be done on Tuesday at the surgical hospital. I am NOT excited to go through this but I look forward to finally having this taken care of.
He will have the surgery on Tuesday and then on Nov. 4th he will go in and have fake tooth attached. It will kind of be like a retainer only the wire will go on the inside of the teeth. It will have bands that go around his molars to keep it in place.
When I told Ridge that he was going to get a new tooth he was really sad because he wanted to be a toothless pirate for Halloween. After I explained to him that he would get his new tooth after Halloween he was just fine.
I have been so impressed with his maturity during this whole endeavor. It has been stressful to say the least but he has been such a trooper.
Gotta love him!
At least I do.

That story about his tooth going back up is CRAZY! Sounds like he is dealing ok with it. Good idea on a toothless pirate...genius :)
You guys sure have been on a crazy emotional roller coaster this last little while! I can't even imagine how your "mother" heart is feeling. It's good to hear that he is going to be all right. I love his optimism and his good attitude about this whole situation - what a trooper! :)
I hope everything went ok!
Amanda! I finally got a chance to catch up on your blog - oh my goodness you have been busy! I'm sure you are really looking forward to having Jason back home this winter.
P.S. I love the toothless pirate idea! Happy Halloween to you all! :)
