I have the most talented friends. These pictures were taken by another Grenada Girl, Lexi Shaeffer. ( You can check out her photo blog here)We were at the beach and my kids fell asleep and she, being the ever talented photographer that she is, noticed a sweet moment in time and captured it on film for me. I absolutely love these pictures! They help me remember all the sweet moments I've had with my kids and how wonderful it is to be a mom. These pictures capture their innocence. Like I said before, I love them.
Thanks Lexi for being observant enough to see the moment before it passes, and for being a good friend to share the pics with me.
Some might think that with all the photos I have of Ridge and Rori that I either don't have any of Dyson or I do but I don't post them because I don't like him as much. Well, I don't seem to have many of Dyson. He is so busy all the time that it's hard for me to get him to sit still long enough for me to take his picture.
On his first day of preschool I had him all dressed and I asked him if I could take a picture of him and he impatiently told me no and that we needed to go before he was too late! I laughed so hard at how excited he was but was seriously disappointed that he wouldn't let me photo him, and since I didn't want to start the day off with him being upset I decided to give in to his need to get going. He is always on the go and if I do get him to pose for a picture it is usually for only a half second. I have to be fast with the camera and more often than not the pictures don't turn out. So rest assured that Dyson is not forgotten or unloved, just too busy to humor his mom for a photo op.
I know I talk alot about my kids, but that seems to be the only thing I can think of. Usually throughout the day I will think of something profound I want to blog about but by the time I get to the computer the thought has left. It seems that I can't seem to keep much of anything in there for too long unless it has to do with how long it was since the boys used the toilet. I love being a mom but sometimes I feel like I'm losing my identity as Amanda in my title: Mom. Do any of you feel like that or I am like the worst mom ever?

If that makes you the worst mom ever than I am in serious danger of being worse than the worst mom ever.
Hello NORMAL.
Motherhood is tricky.
I don't think you are different from any other mom I know. We immerse ourselves in the daily task to care for our kids. That's the job. Just remember that the Lord said "when ye are in the service of your fellow beings, ye are only in the service of your god". What better thing than to lose yourself in His service! And what better treasures to store for yourself in heaven than the knowledge that you loved and cared for your children the best you could! I love you. You gave me three of the 10 most beautiful grandchildren this world has ever seen! They are so so so cute!
I really like the close up black and white picture of Rori - very sweet. Maybe you could use a video camera to capture Dyson. Then you could chase him around when he is a busy bee and post the footage for all of us.
Feeling like all you can talk about is your kids means you are a great mom, not a bad one. You spend time with them and you are apart of their lives. That makes you very special.
Amanda, you are such a great mom! I can see how sometimes you could feel like you're losing yourself. It's not a bad thing to keep in mind. Take a day or afternoon for yourself or just you and Jas. You guys deserve it. As far as only posting about your kids, that's what I like! Besides, those people who blog about profound things usually just sound snobby and weird to me anyway lol
Those pictures are super cute. And look at all that hair on Rori's head! So cute.
hey gorgeous,
just wonderin if there's any way I can get a print of those adorable pics- they are so perfect! Thanks for posting them for us to see!
Those are the sweetest pictures! I agree with Em, motherhood is very tricky and take a lot of balance. No one's perfect!
Beautiful pictures. Aren't they so precious when they sleep!:)
